SoCal’s Star Turn in ‘The Ultimate Cakeoff’

L.A. and Southern California locations will figure prominently in The Learning Channel’s “The Ultimate Cakeoff” in which contestant cake artists will have nine hours to complete massive (five-foot and higher) cakes for large ceremonies, and be judged for their efforts.

The show announced that one of the judges will be our own Leigh Grode, owner of Culver City’s incredible Cake Divas bakery. Grode will help judge contestants on design, taste, and skill as they battle their creations at the debut of Long Beach Aquarium’s new shark exhibit, Legoland’s 10th birthday party, and The Ronald Reagan Library on July 4th, in addition to other SoCal locales.

Look to see if you might have a cameo on August 3rd, when the show gives us a small taste of what it is all about. The actual show will start airing on TLC on August 31st for eight episodes, with hopes that it will be as successful as the channel’s “Cake Boss.” Cake artists will have the chance to take home $10,000 if their cakes win.
