Santa Monica’s romantic Italian La Botte opened an adjacent deli only last summer for those who don’t mind paying a little more when Bay Cities’ Godmother sub line is out of control (as it always seems). Full fresh plates of seasonal creations hit the tables and to-go boxes, perfect for the summer months.
Suddenly La Botte Deli has shuttered, though “looking forward of seeing us soon,” according to a memo taped to the door. Whether this play serves to provide vacation time for owner Stefano De Lorenzo or is a sign he is busy on other things, perhaps the Corso Italia Pizza restaurant we’ve heard about, is not known.
Reached for comment, La Botte said they didn’t have time until next week to speak on the supposedly temporary closing, making us hopeful big news is on the way. Stay tuned.
