Rockwell Landing on Los Feliz in September

Los Feliz is expecting a giant restaurant and bar soon that incorporates outdoor space and city views at every turn, all built around a 30-foot coral tree. Rockwell, a 6,000-square foot stunner opening in September behind Vermont, will culminate in an open-air terrace specifically built to get the neighborhood hanging out more, something we didn’t perceive as a problem here. The spot seems aimed at a mega-nightlife spectacle not typical to Los Feliz, but so far sounds tasteful. The spawn of recent Vermont purchasers Wayne Elias and Chris Diamond (formerly of Mark’s on LaCienega), we’re being promised micro-brews, absinthe-tinged house cocktails, and acai margaritas with blueberry juice. The menu is in pre-production with Vermont Chef Stephanie Beauchamp and Elias, himself a chef, collaborating to bring smart casual fare that will shift with the seasons and no doubt pull Paltrows in with their sustainability. A short-rib flatbread pizza with gruyere, seven pepper calamari, and house tacos with taro root, jicama, avocado, and spicy tuna further sparks the Asian taco trend. And yes, there will be burgers, lots of burgers.
