Local Restaurants Join Seafood for the Future

Providence, Lucques, Spark Woodfire Grill, and Nook Bistro are joining other SoCal restaurants to strengthen the availability of sustainable seafood by partnering with Seafood for the Future. The program, established through The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, specifies menu by menu which seafood dishes are farm or wild-raised and environmentally-friendly, marking each with a Seafood for the Future logo.

According to an Aquarium biologist via The L.A. Times, seafood consumption is twice the national average in L.A., and without action towards an alternative to over-fished wild stocks, the whole seafood industry could collapse in 50 years. In case saving the Earth isn’t a strong enough lure, the Long Beach Aquarium is also giving a free entry ticket each time a patron orders one of the sustainable dishes. Look for the logo as it spreads across menus and visit Seafood for the Future’s website to learn of new restaurant partners as they join the program.
