What to Eat at Andre Guerrero's Marche L.A., Open in Sherman Oaks

Marche L.A. is now open in Sherman Oaks, uniting two culinary forces in our city's dining, chef Andre Guerrero, owner of Boho and The Oinkster, and market-fresh chef Gary Menes, who left popular Palate Food + Wine to run his own kitchen here. Marche L.A. takes over the space of Guerrero's long-loved Max, but familiarity has no place on this menu. Guerrero's son Fred, who helps run the family biz, tell us, "Chef Gary is so excited about food. He plans to change the menu every week, at least, probably on Thursdays, all depending on what he finds at the market. They're also growing some of their own ingredients." While farmer's market menus still sprout like sunflowers around here, anyone who has eaten Palate's fresh fare knows how green Menes thumbs can get. A look at Marche L.A.'s first menu finds produce in a starring role, with about half of the small plates and entrees completely meatless. It probably won't make it to the end of the month (or week even), but here's a look at Marche L.A.'s first menu:
