Tonight, L.A's greatest food writer, Jonathan Gold, will sit with former New York Times critic William Grimes to tell stories about munching along both coasts at The Central Library, as part of its ALOUD series of programs. Hopefully Gold will bash New York tacos and Grimes will fire back with "your pizza sucks"-style snideness and the two will proceed to roll around on the stage locked in a furious death match for 120 minutes. With the lovely Evan Kleiman there to moderate, "Bicoastal Binge" will more likely be a love fest for the mutually respected restaurants and food cultures of L.A. and New York. Unfortunately, the free event appears to be full, but Café Pinot is making room for ALOUD rejects and those who have been listening to two men talk about food for two hours but haven't had any. The restaurant, adjacent to the library, is rolling out a $34 dinner menu inspired by the conversation, called ALOUD in the Kitchen, designed by chef Kevin Meehan. There will be two choices within each course, with the menu below and reservations available at (213) 239-6500.
