If we were Evan Kleiman, we’d never want to see another dang pie again. The host of KCRW’s Good Food and owner of Angeli Café committed to baking one pie a day through the summer, each spontaneously inspired the day she made them. After fulfilling her self-imposed sentence and possibly fighting a masochistic streak, the gal-about-town is hosting a huge pie fight on November 14th, not of the Three Stooges variety but of the baking contest kind. 142 pies have been registered for entry to the Good Food Pie Contest, to be held at Westfield Topanga and free to the public from 2-4 p.m. Judges on hand include chefs like Stefan “Pie Lover” Richter, Mark Peel, Eric Greenspan, and Cake Monkey’s Elizabeth Belkind. Come as you are if you desire the chance to nibble on a winning slice.
