Boudin noir won't be the only new taste Thomas Keller brings to Beverly Hills when Bouchon opens this month. He'll also debut Bar Bouchon, a completely new concept for the chef/owner that recreates a "classic French wine bar" with a large selection of by-the-glass wines, artisanal beers, and small plates. Opening the second week in December, the Adam D. Tihany-designed Bar Bouchon will be located on the restaurant's first floor and seat eleven guests at the bar and 35 on an outdoor terrace.

While no full menu is available, the restaurant's reps let us know that potted foods, salads, charcuterie, cheeses, tartines, sandwiches, caviar, and dessert will be available with standards like escargots Bouguignonnes and tarte flambé next to seasonal plates like macaroni with black truffles and a winter courage. With Bar Bouchon and the SoCal wine obsessed Vin de Carafe that we learned of yesterday, it appears Keller's food is accompanied by a serious exploration and celebration of vino. As for his return to L.A., Keller says, "I was born in Southern California and worked in L.A. for many years. It feels good to be back home.”
