We noted last week that chef William Annesley, popping up Thursday with "Bloody Bill's" in Libertine, has plans for a local place called Fatty's. He tells The Daily Dish it will be a "Cajun/Creole honky-tonk barbecue" joint with a potential fourth quarter 2010 opening. Annesley already made an attempt in Mid-City before being turned off by liquor license hoops and is now targeting Silver Lake and Hollywood.
Despite being British and running a Spanish restaurant in Louisiana, the bloody one, who promises he personally butchers and cooks the animals he hunts, could easily distinguish himself within this genre. With our favorite Cajun standbys--Harold and Belle's, New Orleans Cafe, and Uncle Darrow's sticking closely to authentic family recipes, there's plenty of room for Cajun comfort that doesn't take itself too seriously.
