Cigars and Sticks Heading to The Loft Bar Downtown, Open 2010

The Downtown blocks that find Nickel Diner, Pete’s, Down and Out, and The Must will have to make room for a large 21-and-over lounge tentatively called The Loft Bar, a 6,277 square-foot pool-playing and cigar-chomping bar headed to the Rosalyn Lofts at Fifth and Main. The project just had its liquor license approved and will go forward with construction on the building’s second floor, reports L.A. Downtown News, with a projected open “in about six months.” The place will be open as early as 11 a.m. and go until 2 a.m., with food served and, get this, 230 seats. With that many people smoking stogies and shooting pool, it sounds destined to be half-Shatto Lanes, half-ESPN Sports Zone. Still not as fascinating as whatever’s probably going on at King Eddy’s. Watch for progress at 451 S. Main St..
