Cube on La Brea has a new rooftop garden growing on top of owner Alexander Palermo’s production house Downtown. Palermo sends us word that the project has been years in the planning. In addition to offering fresh goods for the restaurant, it will serve as headquarters for Cube Foundation, a non-profit created to teach local families about farm-to-table dining through urban gardening and home-cooking classes, to begin in February.

To celebrate the roof’s harvest and help fund the project, Cube is having a special four-course benefit dinner for $60 on Saturday, January 2nd. Ingredients will be sourced from the new garden, as well as local farms, and each course comes with choices, mostly in Italian dishes. The full Cube benefit dinner menu is below and reservations are recommended at 323-939-1148.
