Chef Suzanne Goin has a featurette in the Julie and Julia DVD, teaching the home audience how to cook Lucques’ beef short rib. When it comes to her own favorite flicks, we noticed that movie doesn’t make the list, but weren’t surprised that four out of five are about food. Goin tells Film in Focus that she “generally doesn’t like food movies,” before correcting herself, “what I don’t like are restaurant movies because they are so unrealistic.” So what are Goin’s favorites? She lists Delicatessen, Chocolat, Ratatouille (the Bouchon kitchen has a poster for the film, too), and Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? Her non-food pick is Toute Une Vie, explaining,” My parents were huge Claude Lelouch fans…Those were basically the only movies I saw until I was around 10.”
