Sprinkles Super Bowl Cupcakes
Sprinkles Super Bowl Cupcakes

We’ve already told you where to party with Tone Loc and Coolio during the Super Bowl, and where to avoid it completely. But if the extremes of pole dancing at Rush Street or playing possum both fail to address your special Super Bowl needs, check out our guide to where you can find satisfaction this Sunday. Whether you’re going out to eat your way through a day of boneless wings or are in need of dishes for a home party, we hope to satisfy each member of your team, be they vegans, locavores, foragers, or wine fans. Take a look.

Where to Go Out For:

Beer Goggles
It’s probably useless to tell college students where to go for the Super Bowl, but if you don’t fit in on Frat Row and want to hide from your own football team, check out The Lab’s gastropub, which scores alone with its mad scientist vibe. In addition to $5 mango sweet and sour wings, and spinach artichoke dip, you can express your U.S.C. pride by guzzling Trojan Blonde, a beer made just for The Lab that is served in a beaker. 3500 Figueroa Blvd.

Benevolent Lounge Lizards
Downtown’s Seven Bar and Grill is hosting the 1st Annual Super Bowl Charity Event to benefit KIDS Inc. (Keeping Individual Dreams Supported) with a portion of all proceeds sold from food and drink. The game will be shown on several big screens while the venue’s smokey speakeasy vibe will keep from going sports bar on you. More details on Facebook.

Locavores
Locals Sports bar opened last month, sourcing all of its crazy comfort eats like fried chili cheese dogs and traditional wings from local markets, ranches, and farms. We have a feeling this makes the crowd a little cooler than the ESPN Sports Zone. To celebrate the Big Game, Locals is hosting a huge party with ten 50” HDTV sets and two big screens. Domestic beers will be $5 and Crown Royal cocktails $6, while all wing orders are half-price. Locals mentions there will be “sexy Super Bowl models,” too, so maybe scratch that diss about the ESPN Zone. Advanced table reservations can be made at 323-930-1400.

Seaside Scenesters
Chaya Venice will serve their sushi and happy hour menus, drink specials, and also hold giveaways every quarter during their Game Day party. The sushi certainly won’t blow you away, but the booze will flow for a room jam-packed with Bay City cougars and Santa Monica sugar daddies, so who knows what will come halftime. [Chaya]

Twisted Traditionalists

Hudson House in Redondo Beach does have a 50-inch. screen and authentic bar eats, but the patrons and owners are much cooler than your typical South Bay meathead meat market. Beechwood chef-owner Brooke Williamson will be cooking $5 boneless buffalo wings, $2 Hawaiian sliders, hot dogs, and garlic fries, and serving $3 Buds until the food supply or game runs its course. The food is a cut above typical greasy bar food and there are also craft beers. From 1-5 P.M. [Huson House]

Rich Carnivores

Morton’s on LaCienega is offering big screens and a four-course meal for $125 with wine and beer pairings. The lunch starts with jumbo lump crab and a spinach and artichoke dip, and centers on a Cajun ribeye, followed by a dessert sampler. 310-246-1501 for a table.

Winos
Bacaro Wine Bar is hosting the Super Bowl over its Beefsteak Sundays. $25 buys an unlimited amount of wine and beer to go along with all-you-can-eat grilled hanger steak, bread, butter, and roasted market potatoes. [Bacaro]

A Real Meat Market

McCall’s Meat and Fish Company opened last week with a selection of dry aged steaks, kurobuta pork belly, and sushi-grade fish. All sourced from individual suppliers, McCall’s gives home cooks the goods to cook something unique and challenging. If juggling a rack of lamb is lost on your friends, McCall’s makes it own sausages to take away with you. 2117 Hillhurst Ave. Los Feliz. 323-667-0674.

Mexican
New York newcomer, Rosa Mexicano, has a comfort food menu with Mexican twists to be served until this Super Bowl Sunday. There’s a chorizo-stuffed D.F.-style hot dog, shrimp with peanut salsa, fried Chihuahua ham-wrapped cheese sticks, pork ribs with agave-passion fruit barbecue sauce, and blue cheese nachos with beef, among other dishes that can be taken out and served on game day. Rosa’s trumpeted guacamole in a molcajete can be purchased for take-out as well.

Of course to really save your pennies while on a Mexican jones, you can get clayudas, tortas, and tacos for your crew on plenty of corners as well. Check out our street food map for some of the best. Additionally, asada, cow lengua, chicharones, and much more raw material, can be affordably purchased at a variety of small neighborhood butchers. It all goes great with cheap beer.

Vegans
After 5 P.M. every Wednesday and Saturday, M Café rolls out vegan pizzas that can feed two people for $9.75. The thin-crust pie comes with seitan salami, vegan Daiya cheese, basil, and a slow-cooked marinara that are all vegan friendly and macrobiotic. Vegan toppings can be added. If your friends are into violence between big men on the field, but against animal cruelty, get a few to go for the next day’s event. 9343 Culver Blvd. Culver City. 310-838-4300.

Vegetarians
If it’s meatless burgers you’re hunting for, Seed in Venice has four different versions from a South West style burger to a BBQ tempeh version. Vegetarian and vegan curry bowls and paninis are also good to go. 1604 Pacific Ave. Venice. 310-396-1604.

Ride Home Reminder
: Super Bowl Sunday is one of the most deadly days on the road in L.A. If you put too much booze in your belly, remember that Y Drive can drive you home in your own car, saving human lives or at least $10,000 in DUI costs. 888-401-DUI7.
