The question “where are they now” will be answered, if only for a day, for once-popular L.A. rappers like Young M.C., Coolio, Tone Loc, Yo-Yo, and J.J. Fad next Sunday during the Super Bowl. These artists will join Gardena’s Paradise Restaurant for what event producer Joe Jones is calling “the largest and sexiest Super Bowl party ever.” Half-time will begin a Luther Campbell-approved, Miami-style “hard body and sexy legs” contest that will be judged in-person by the old school rappers mentioned above. Sadly, D.O.C. appears to have not made the list of invitees, making us question if the whole thing will truly be “funky enough.”

Former Colts player Chuckie Miller will be there though, in addition to a football pool, free snacks, dominoes, and card and casino games. The party is expected to draw over 600 guests, with tickets available through Inglewood Tickets at 310-671-6400. There’s no official word on whether you’ll get to hear “Funky Cold Medina” or “Bust a Move” live, but we think the odds are pretty good that The Who’s televised performance won’t cut it for too long here. The party starts at 2:00 p.m. and an after-party will go until 11:00 p.m. Paradise Restaurant, 889 W. 190th Street, Gardena.
