Culver City will soon have a new Medi-Eastern restaurant with a focus on healthy recipes at the corner of Hughes and Washington. Named Mezza Mediterranean Grill, the business looks almost ready to serve, with full signage, stacked chairs inside a finished dining room, and an application pending for a full liquor license. While Mezza serves kebab with filet mignon, mahi-mahi, and lamb, its menu is full of dishes for vegetarians, from traditional falafel and grape leaves to more novel approaches like a Labneh cucumber and mint sandwich, and appetizers like vegetarian kibbi served with pumpkin shell. Salads, soups, and sweets are included, with most main dishes ranging between $8-$13, though marinated lamb chops go up to $17.50. Mezza promises that chef Najwa uses her own marinades and arrives early to inspect ingredient deliveries, with everyone’s heart-health on her mind. A full menu is online, while Mezza should open in the next few weeks if all goes according to plan.
