L.A. Will Be The Next Food Network Star

Since both Ludo and Mark Peel met the egress on Top Chef Masters last night, we’re going to need some new local talent to get on television so we can focus our attention come digestion time. Today the L.A. Times introduces us to three L.A.-based contestants slated to appear on the June return of The Next Food Network Star, which is filmed around town. Appearing are L.A. caterer Doreen Fang, Good Bite’s Aarti Sequeira, and Darrell “DAS” Smith, who we recently covered for his contributions to Daniel’s Bistro at LAX. The contestants will be among twelve running around the city competing for the show, catering fancy parties, making sweets inspired by The Santa Monica Pier and naturally, creating their own food truck concepts in Venice. L.A. might have been rejected by the Beard Awards, but at least reality T.V. still calls.
