Last Stop at Willoughby: Two New Food Trucks Going to Scrap

Cue Beethoven’s Fifth, as foreboding signs of the food truck fad’s first failures are swirling into our midst. Eater reports that two trucks are changing course and going to the scrapheap. Asian Soul Kitchen debuted in November, but today announces via website that it “will no longer be in service.” Gratitude to fans and supporters follow before the team teases,”Life is stranger than fiction and who knows what we will do next.” An even newer truck, Willoughby Road, Twittered their last supper plans last night in Downtown. Even less is mentioned of their struggle or plans, but these coasting closures prove recent reports that the road is rocky and rough for food trucks in this town.

Do you think more food truck closures could be looming? Let us know your predictions in our comments. UPDATE: Despite calls for its “last lunch” and “last dinner,” Willoughby Road writes on Twitter that it is just “switching trucks” and will be back.
