Border Grill keeps getting bigger by going smaller, venturing from a legendary restaurant space to a food truck and now to a tiny kiosk called Border Grill Stop outside of the Comerica Bank building at Figueroa and Wilshire. Feast reports plenty of outdoor seating here as well as fast dishes “with a Latin twist,” meaning Cubano sandwiches, poblano quesadillas, guava cheese empanadas, breakfast burritos, Cuzco corn and plantain salads, and coffee. Open for breakfast at 6:00 A.M. and closing at 3:00 P.M., it sounds like the Two Hot Tamales might have been inspired by Patina’s corporate lunchroom plans in creating a fresh new option for Downtown’s famished workers.
