Once new restaurants settle in, they start pulling out the fun stuff and Culina is the latest to reach this stage. Since establishing this Four Seasons restaurant as a vast improvement on Gardens, it will now embark on the rite of passage of starting its happy hour and also joining the city’s swelling Sunday family supper scene (which recently won our First Lady’s seal of approval at Lucques). Starting this Sunday and stretching through every Thursday, Culina will hold a nightly “festa del vino” happy hour from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sommelier Brick Loomis will compile weekly changing lists of six-dollar wines by-the-glass, often by-the-region. There will also be free antipasti like prosciutto and melon or burrata-filled heirloom tomatoes rotating daily from the kitchen of Victor Casanova. And guess who’s coming to dinner that evening?
Every Sunday night will find a new three-course menu with two choices under every course, served family-style, and priced at $30 per person. Expect modern Italian dishes of Roman fritters, garganelli Genovese, eggplant parm, and halibut livornese, with coffee and dolce to follow just as a start, though the chef will veer towards the seasonal. Entering the happy-hour/family supper phase is a sure sign that Culina is emerging from infancy. They grow up so fast, don’t they?
Starting this Sunday, June 20th, festa del vino happy hour begins at 5:00 P.M. and Sunday family supper is served at Culina from 6:00 to 10:00 P.M.
