Last Friday Benny Borsakian opened Benny's Tacos, transforming a former location of Campos into something much more personal. Physically and conceptually, it's an improvement on its predecessor, as Benny's streamlined space is hooked on fresh ingredients and labels itself a bakery that makes its own tortillas. Tacos, burritos, and quesadillas make the menu, as well as sandwiches, rotisserie meats, and spit-roasted, pineapple-topped pastor. The attention to detail already saw the restaurant swarmed this weekend, before it even printed its to-go menus or finished its website. Whether it reaches the level of good neighborhood Mex like Fiesta Brava or the Oaxaquena truck will have to be seen, but already it has a leg up on Campos with its freshness. Take a look at Benny's in our slide show and let us know how the experience is in our comments if you get a taste this week.
