The fourth and northernmost location of Malibu Fish Grill is currently under construction on Sepulveda at Grand in El Segundo, promising local product and sustainable seafood served quickly and casually. The new storefront is roughly 2,000 square-feet with outdoor patio seating for 28 and a dining room for 32 guests. Malibu Fish Grill sure sounds a lot like California Fish Grill, which moved into the neighborhood last month and the two do share similar menus. Think of Malibu as a quicker, healthy spot for your lunch hour, though a liquor license is also pending so its selection of skewers, sandwiches, tacos, and wraps will have boozy company. Whereas neighbor Rubio’s fries its fish for tacos, a no-no for Lisa Lillien, this eatery grills its meats and most everything else. Malibu’s full menu is online, while its northern expansion can be tracked on a Twitter that has no fear in stating, “BP is responsible for this oil disaster” shortly before advertising “Taco Tuesdays.”
