North Korea Is Coming! To a Taco Truck, Of Course

A new North Korean food truck will hit the streets this Saturday called Pyongyang Express, promising through its press release “to share informations about The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.” We don’t know what they’re talking about either, but figure they must mean the grub, as owner Jun-Hee explains that she wants to highlight “the true nature of how wonderful the food of North Korea is.” The menu so far doesn’t sound like any, excuse us, revolution in Korean fusion, with kim chee quesadillas (like the ones we found on AK recently), twisted tacos, and rice bowls. So what’s the selling point?

The prices are cheap, hovering between one and two dollars for menu items, which they scarily tie into a lot of pro-proletariat jargon when announcing, “in true spirit of working people, Pyongyang Express is best truck for subsidized food.”

If you don’t lose your appetite at the sight of Kim Jong Il, you can check out their aims on a website and spy on them via Twitter. Who knows? Maybe it’s fitting that a totalitarian taco truck called Pyongyang Express hits the streets right after Pineapple Express is driven off of them.
