Luca Giorgetti will expand on his Beverly Hills eatery Basic Bites by opening Fresh Bites on a West Hollywood stretch of Sunset later this month. Fast Italian will be served here in the form of healthy pastas, pizza, grilled items, and breakfast, as well as homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches under chef Claudio Marchesan, formerly of Pane E Vino and Il Fornaio. Marchesan’s dishes will be created in front of guests behind a glass screen and then sent cruising towards the cashier on a conveyor belt. Giorgetti, meanwhile, is an heir to the furniture company of the same name, and naturally, Fresh Bites will have Italian furniture among its 120 seats, in eco-friendly uses of bamboo panels, chairs, and banquettes in a room designed by Osvaldo Maiozzi, of Rivera and Angelini Osteria. So, what’s for dessert?

In addition to quick plates of fresh Italian, expect fresh juices, smoothies and Pasquini coffee to be on hand, as well as natural and organic wines from Cali and The Boot. Heading dessert service will be Rebecca West, who’s resume boasts both New York’s Bouley Bakery and Mercer Kitchen. West will meld market produce with breakfast items like “thin and crispy” pancakes in vegan, whole grain, and blue corn choices, plus scones, biscuits, and pastries. Sweeter stuff might include coconut macaroons and fudge brownies, in addition to a rotating, changing selection of baked goods. Stay tuned to the restaurant’s website for a menu and more details to appear soon.

Fresh Bites, opening mid-July at 7950 West Sunset Blvd. West Hollywood. 323-822-2900.
