Madame Chou Chou Replacing Santa Monica’s Creative Sushi in August

Grub Street popped into Santa Monica’s former Creative Sushi space last night to find contractors working (at 10:00 P.M. no less) on a new restaurant called Madame Chou Chou. Temporary signage here announces plans to serve French cuisine, with an opening hoped for in about two weeks. Besides half of Wolfgang Puck’s Chinois and the heritage behind many dishes at Josiah Citrin’s Cache, Main Street currently has no straight French options. Here’s hoping for a cute neighborhood bistro with food that’s better than nearby Lily’s (not a hard task at hand) and more consistent than La Cachette Bistro up the street. Whatever the outcome, it has got to better than Creative Sushi.
