Te'Kila Opens Tuesday; Spacecraft Eyes Venice With "Windward"
Te'Kila, the Spacecraft-designed Mexican restaurant under Recess-owner/Adam Sandler's private chef Sevan Azarian, has moved its projected opening date to Tuesday. Eater opines that this might end up being tourist Mex for the Blvd., and while judgment will be reserved until opening, there are threats already of a gimmicky $300 burrito. There are also "borracho burritos," 80 bottles of tequila, frozen margaritas, a menu full of tacos, and tortas on brioche that we already wish were cemitas. While we await what the August 3rd opening will bring for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Kristopher Keith's Spacecraft, designers of this plank-wood heavy cantina that replaced La Cantina, is busy looking at projects all over town.
Taking a gander at Spacecraft's website, there are upcoming plans for six new projects, including The Manor, a location of Osaka headed to Hollywood Blvd, the Spanish-style Premiere coming to the location of Central from the owners of Villa, New Orleans-influenced 504, and a new, unnamed project coming to the site of 40 Deuce.
There's also a departure from Hollywood with Venice Windward. While we'd predict a place for it in that vacant corner on Windward that currently has huge Newcastle signs, Spacecraft is calling it Keith's first "beachfront property." (Update: the space is under construction at the first vacant lot next to the boardwalk, underneath Hotel Erwin).
It will apparently be a take-out restaurant (you hear that Mao's Kitchen?) with space to "hang-out" (maybe they mean "wait?"). Spacecraft promises "classy earth tones" and "natural art installations," and we promise lots of yuppies slumming it to the beach aaaaall the way from Abbot-Kinney and Chaya Venice. Details to follow.
Te'Kila, 6541 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood.
