With a planned 100 beers on tap, a sous chef from Provecho, location on jumping Seventh Street, and handsome dark woods that would blend into the eponymous city's Temple Bar, Dublin's might give Seven Grand a run for its whiskey-fueled dollars even if it was brand-new. Soft-opening this week and grandly the next, this is actually the re-birth of West Hollywood hot-spot sports bar Dublin's on Sunset. Mark Moss, the venue's original owner, is leading an experienced team, including actor Dave Vij and Blake Adam St. John, who helped open Bottega Louie and Katsuya, in resuscitating his nightlife brand. Jameson bottles line the bar, the last fixture awaiting installation, where no draft will be priced over five dollar. Under chef Raul Martinez, hired from Gabriel Morales' closed Provecho where he was a sous chef, the menu bears pub-friendly gastronomy with the requisite Angus sliders, upgraded wings, nachos, and tacos on a bar menu. The full menu appears inspired and affordable, with a surf and turf burger holding four ounces of lobster for $6.55, plus a salmon BLT, steak cuts complimented by local produce (rib eye with Swiss chard and roasted shallot jus) and grilled shrimp served with foie gras-infused grits. A long list of salads find greens piled with toppings like berries, artichokes, and poached pear, while lighter panini help balance the selection of five burgers. And this being Dublin's, British Isle inclusions of corned beef and cabbage, shephard's pie, beef stew, and bangers and mash are served as well.
Dublin's plans a soft-opening Wednesday, to be follow by a grand-opening next week. A website is under construction.
