Following the departure of Michel Richard after 33 years, a new tenant looks poised to inhabit 310 S. Robertson. An application to serve beer and wine was strapped to the door yesterday bearing the name Pizzeria il Fico, from Restaurant Muse Inc., along with a not-so-stylish masking tape promise of a “FALL” opening. A website is currently under construction, with photos of what look like tomatillos, hopefully foreshadowing some sort of Mexican-Italian hybrid, though they are more likely figs or “fico.” Chances are high this will be a traditional thin-crust pizza place, possibly in the style of Rome’s Il Fico, who’s website also shows a similar bowl of green figs. Stay tuned for more details as they emerge and keep up with the website for clues.
