The Boiling Crab looks set to bring its tenth location to the former home of Kuru Kuru Sushi on Wilshire in Koreatown. With outlets in Garden Grove and Alhambra among the many, this will be the first and most central location in the big city for this Texas Gulf-born seafood shack. What can you expect here?

Already, the family-owned restaurant shows a way with words, borrowing Chick-Fil-A's whole "Save a Cow" slogan and promising on a website to "have the 'best tail in town' and be the biggest ass-pinching, head sucking venue, this side of Mississipi," which, yes, as any fourth-grader could tell you, is spelled wrong.

The menu shows a simple selection of shellfish, including crawfish and blue crab when in season, each prepared with a guest's choice of eight different spices. Elsewhere, there's some Bubba Gump-ery in a list of baskets filled with of fried catfish, oysters, and shrimp with Cajun fries, while sides like gumbo and sausages complete the "Born on the Bayou" schtick. Construction looks to just be starting here, so a late fall or early winter opening is likely.
