Chefs Eat Out

Where Nobu Eats in L.A.

Had enough dining advice from Dylan McDermott and sick of watching Kim Kardashian stumble between Katsuya, STK, and Boa? Then it should be refreshing to find Nobu Matsuhisa dish on his favorite L.A. eating spots for Financial Times today. The master doesn’t disappoint, immediately announcing his passion for Korean BBQ at Totoraku, a secretive, sign-less place on Pico that “doesn’t publicize its phone number and won’t let anyone in without a reservation.” Nice tip! So, where else does Nobu eat in town?

For business, the chef conducts his meetings at Valentino, which he strangely just “discovered” despite its 38 years, though he’s more inclined to sit at table #21 on the patio of his own place. He also shares a particular fondness for the chocolate eclairs at La Brea Bakery and looks to Beverly Hills Cheese Store when catering his annual New Year’s eve party. Unlike McDermott and Kim K., you will not find him at Trousdale and his agenda appears free of any Katsuya appearances. Maybe that’s why he’s yet to be heard grousing about their take on his jalapeno-topped sushi.
