Epicure Santa Barbara Finds Foodie Awards, Avocado Worship, and Cat Cora In The American Riviera

If you’re sensing a Santa Barbara trip in your future (and not just to visit that so-called “Quazie” couple, the Randy Quaids), keep in mind that next weekend is full of food events in the seaside city. Saturday, October 2nd, finds the 1st Annual SolFood Festival at Plaza Vera Cruz (across from the Farmer’s Market Suzanne Goin is such a fan of), celebrating sustainable organic local food with the help of Iron Chef Cat Cora, who is scheduled to be there. Also on the 2nd, the city’s food community is honored in its first ever Foodie Awards, sponsored by The Independent, S.B.’s weekly newspaper. You can tie those two in-between a trip to Carpinteria’s Avocado Festival, from October 1-3, for a chance to worship that magical green fruit, which is actually a berry. And why all this food frenzy up north?

October is the month for Epicure-SB, a 31-day, community-wide Santa Barbara extravaganza highlighting local food and drink, cooking classes, winemaker dinners, book signings, and more mouthwatering activities that celebrate “The American Riviera.” More details on this Santa Barbara food celebration can be found on the Epicure Santa Barbara website.
