DineLA's two back-to-back "restaurant weeks" are quickly approaching on October 3rd. This morning, a smattering of local chefs, media, and industry pros gathered at a press conference at Napa Valley Grille to get psyched up for the event and debut DineLA's "Quickfire Challenge" series that will be staged throughout the next two weeks and are open to the public. Today, Mayor Antonio "Failure" Villaraigosa and Cali cuisine pioneer Michael McCarty helped judge a cook-off between Mark Peel of Campanile and Tar Pit, Ben Ford of Ford's Filling Station, and Water Grill's David Lefevre. Challenged to incorporate ingredients from a table loaded with fresh produce, the chefs picked their product and got cooking. The next Quickfire Challenge will be over "cold soup" at Petrossian this Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. and a full list of those participating in restaurant week is available on DineLA.'s website. Check out our slide show to see what the chefs cooked today, and more importantly, who won.
