Fresh East

Last Friday, Ravine Lal Hiranand, a recent transplant from Hong Kong, opened Fresh East on Santa Monica Blvd. at Robertson. The fast casual fare here, as designed by chef Jonathan Schwichtenberg, comes in Pan-Asian dishes leaning to the healthier side of the spectrum, with a mix of salads, rice bowls, wraps, and specialties that look to India, Thailand, China, Korea, and Japan, and corners in between, for their inspiration. The produce and meat are 100% organic and sustainable, the chicken is Jidori, and the plates and cups biodegrade naturally. Think of it as a more worldly mate of new Bibigo Hot Stone, with personal ambition and spirit in place of corporate planning for a national dynasty. Here’s a place where you can find both larb and yakitori, green coconut water curry and tandoori shrimp, avocado smoothies and goji berry lassi, bulgogi and rogan gosht together, and it all might even be good for you. Check out the space and the full menus in our slide show.
