Gold Apologizes To Deen, Teams Up With Bret Easton Ellis

We had a feeling Jonathan Gold would probably backpedal after dissing Paula Deen, much like when he turned the heat down on Rick Bayless. He issues an apology, of sorts, to the Southern chef today, saying his comments were never intended to reach the claws of the wicked media of the West and welcoming her to Pasadena, even if her "brand" of Southern cooking isn't to his tastes. On November 16th, Gold will appear live in a conversation with a writer who makes no apologies, Bret Easton Ellis. The Less Than Zero and American Psycho author has set a few of his scenes in popular L.A. restaurants and, like Gold, has a touch for detailing scenes of extreme mastication, even if it is human flesh in his case. But what the two really have in common is L.A. Both are locals and plan to discuss pop culture, the city, and of course, eating. Tickets are free at the box office at 6:00 P.M. November 16th, 7:00 P.M., at the Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd.
