Angel's: Another Supper Club Menu Goes South For the Winter

Just as Downtown supper club First & Hope is unveiling a revamped menu under new chef Joseph Panarello, with the possibility he might ditch some of its "Down Home" hoopla, Santa Monica supper club Angel's has unleashed a new menu dedicated to Southern food, designed by consulting chef Gena Bell. Could a cross-city exchange program be at work? The new menu is actually short on theatrics like PBR cans peeking from a chicken's backside. Instead, it's geared towards straight-forward Southern comfort with a gourmet twist. Expect chorizo and mushroom-stuffed fried chicken, hush puppies, blackened salmon over red Savannah rice, pulled pork sliders with celery root slaw, smokey mac and cheese, and a bourbon butterscotch pot de creme among the vittles.
