Chaya Brasserie will re-open next Monday, November 29th, following a short renovation of its interior and the implementation of a new exec chef, Harutaka Kishi, a Paris-born veteran of Joel Robuchon and Gordon Ramsay restaurants. The chef has new menu concepts to showcase his Japanese-European fusion, with both a bistro menu of a la carte dishes, as well as chef's tasting menus. While a few Chaya signatures are staying, like the sushi, burger, tuna tartare, and wood grilled chicken dijon, the rest of Kishi's selection are originals. Tasting menus will depend on what the chef feels like cooking that week or day, while the new menu at La Petite Chaya will involve such unique twists as a green tea fettucini, hamachi sashimi mole with tobiko, king prawn ravioli, foie gras morsels, and roasted hokkaido scallops. To make it easier on wallets/stomachs/the indecisive, plates will be offered in both small shareable sizes and larger entree portions. Chaya reopens next Monday for dinner service.
