Over the weekend, Thierry Perez told Grub Street to look for the soft-opening of his L’Epicerie this Thursday followed by its official public debut in Culver City on Friday. (Update: Eater reports the opening has again been delayed until November 29) A combination market, cafe, and tasting room, Perez plans locally sourced breakfast, lunch, and dinner here, with almost everything served originating from Europe, from Belgian waffles and omelets to charcuterie, paella, and coq au vin. In addition, a coffee bar will be active while a shop will carry European wines, ingredients, chocolates, and magazines, intended to satisfy everyone who wishes they still lived abroad. In the middle is a tasting bar for cheese, sandwiches, charcuterie, and wine samples, while a little sidewalk dining off Culver Blvd. is a start, but might find you still hungering for The Left Bank as cars whiz by. The space was still under construction during our visit this weekend, but whether the opening finally comes this week or not, an opportunity to party in Perez’s place is planned this Monday.

Gilt City is organizing a preview party here for its members on Monday, November 22nd. For $50 per person, a four-course tasting menu will be served, along with Louis de Sacy champagne, while ten percent of the proceeds go to Children’s Action Network. Reservations can be purchased on Gilt City’s website.

L’Epicerie, opening soon at 9900 Culver Blvd. Culver City.
