He’s L.A.’s celebrated Southwestern French chef and she’s an Ethiopian-born Italian toque popular with Oprah. But much like the culinary versions of Dudley Moore and Kirk Cameron in Like Father, Like Son, RH at Andaz chef Sebastien Archambault and Mollie Ahlstrand of Montecito’s Mollie’s Trattoria are switching roles. For three nights in December, the chefs will take over each others’ kitchens, cooking pre-fixe meals to show-off a few of their greatest hits. This means Mollie will make crostini ai funghi, osso buco con verdura, and panna cotta in Hollywood, while Archambault brings his Hudson Valley foie gras terrine, homemade duck confit, and warm plum pie with bourbon vanilla ice cream to the Santa Barbara-adjacent village. Hopefully, they learn all kinds of deep life lessons about how much they actually love each other before getting magically zapped back into their own kitchens. Both dinners, held December 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, will cost $65 a person, which already sounds like a bargain at either one. Reservations can be made at Mollie’s, 805-565-9381, or RH at Andaz, 310-785-6090.
