Ricardo Zarate Plans to Pack Up Mo-Chica For A Move to Downtown's Restaurant Row
Update: While Zarate is indeed looking at the space and others in consideration of a bigger Mo-Chica location, his camp tells Grub Street that absolutely nothing has been signed yet. While awaiting news on what Ricardo Zarate's follow-up restaurant to Mo-Chica will actually be--including such possibilities as Moche, Picca, or Anticucho, one of which might replace Test Kitchen next year--L.A. Downtown News announces that the chef's Peruvian original will move out of Mercado Paloma and on to Seventh Street where it will take over for Sandella’s Flatbread Café. Seeing as Mo-Chica drew a crowd in its South Central, Central American mini-mall, surely it will make a bigger splash on the heavily trodden track that features Bottega Louie and SugarFish, even if it drops a touch of its diamond-in-the-rough charm. Mo-Chica is currently slated for a March reopening at 514 W. Seventh St. Downtown.
