We scratched our heads to find another restaurant space under construction at the former site of Meltdown Etc., on the flip side of Double Dutch Dinette, which the owners of Rush Street are confirmed to be taking over. Stranger still, a French neighbor on Culver Blvd. told us this is also to be a Rush Street project. In actuality, they turn out to be one and the same, as the restaurant confirms they are taking over both properties and combining them into one finger-food-friendly restaurant and microbrew bar under the name “City Tavern.” The double-sided project looks to be in early construction mode, so 2011 sounds like a more realistic debut date than this winter.
