Big Trademark Trouble in Locavore Land? The Napa Grill Coming To The Valley

A new restaurant is opening in Westlake in early January called Napa Grill, the first edible project from the owner of nearby discount furniture store Urban Home. The eatery plans to serve farm-to-table California cuisine and state-sourced wine, with personal chef Ray Swanson at the stoves. Wait, doesn’t that all sound familiar? Oh right, Napa Valley Grille is kinda the exact same restaurant already, only with an extra word in its name and three existing locations. According to a rep for the chain, owned by Tavistock Restaurant Group, the corporate offices are “aware of the all-too-similarly named restaurant coming at Westlake.” Mmmnn…We love the smell of litigation in the early afternoon, especially when it smells like local Tahitian squash tortelloni!

The Napa Grill, Opening January 1st at 101 S. Westlake Blvd. Westlake Village. 805-497-4911.
