It’s Breakfast Time at FarmShop

Ever careful, ever meticulous, Jeff Cerciello is rolling out his FarmShop one meal at a time. The restaurant and bakery began breakfast and brunch service this week and hopes to add lunch this Monday, to be followed by family-style dinners (an emerging trend?) once approval goes through for a beer-and-wine license that has been at the center of a local controversy. What’s on the menu?

Breakfast offers plenty of choice, from pastrami and eggs for your bigg’uns to steel-cut oatmeal with dried sour cherries and brûléed grapefruit for the cholesterol conscious. Prices can be steep ($14.75 omelets, $8.50 granola) but NorCal-sourced ingredients are clearly at the top of their game, with bacon by Hobbs’, house-made quince preserves and freshly baked bread, Fra’mani ham, and fromage blanc from Bellwether Dairy. Brunch ups the ante (and occasionally the price) with smoked fish with house pickles, chicken liver with Tavern’s sourdough, and deviled eggs with smoked Idaho trout.
