Who Made the Top 100 Restaurant Tweeters List

There's something like 200 million users on Twitter today, so it's no easy feat picking the top 100 restaurant Tweeters of the year. And by restaurants we mean the chefs and owners (or at least their marketing teams) running those feeds. FriendsEat picks their favorites from across the country—with more than a third of the list hailing from L.A. (Food for thought: Do we just have more restaurants on Twitter here?)

National chains (Gordon Biersch, Cheesecake Factory) are apparently good Tweeters, as are pizzerias (Mozza, Motorino in NYC), cupcakeries (Sprinkles), and, of course, food trucks (Nom Nom, Border Grill).

The criteria are simple: Tweeting out specials every day won't cut it. It's all about engagement, that little extra effort it takes to let customers know you know they're there. And, yes, good Tweeting is an art form, although you wouldn't always know it from some of these top 100 (i.e. The Smith Restaurant above).

FriendsEat seesTwitter as a colorful, inclusive universe where "clients feel special and loved; a place to connect with foodies, bloggers and ultimately that person who never knew they would end up eating at their place." And, really, don't you feel special when you and 79,000 other Kogi fans get a personal note like, "Venice it’s Tuesday which means taco night. The brig. Hurry we’ll be leaving @ midnight."?
