Montaigne Social House, that Thomas Schoos-designed bakery, restaurant, and lounge that we first wrote about in September, plans an opening on February 11th across from Cleo. The cuisine here will be French-American and the project comes from owner Jeremy Chin. Taking over the former home of Forbidden City, we were puzzled by a hiring notice on Craigslist that called the place Lexington Social House, with mentions of it being a nightclub, while permits called it Avenue Restaurant/Montaigne, evoking the high-end Parisian thoroughfare. Contractors at the scene were about as confused as we were on the name, with one admitting that it was once going to be called Chin Cafe, but shared that it would indeed be multiple venues within one huge space.
