Another Gourmet Burger Biz Hitting L.A., This One From San Diego

After more subdued attention for burgers in 2010 than in previous years, L.A. seems to be on the verge of another boom. BLT's new Go Burger has been garnering plenty of press, Squid Ink is eating a different burger every day this month, Umami is going gangbusters, Feast covered relatively new Rounds Burgers in West Hollywood yesterday (don't worry, the "Western Devil" burger is not a nod to Jihad), and we have the highest hopes that Nancy Silverton is still due to drop Short Order Burger on us sometime soon. And now, what's next?

Sign on San Diego ("stay classy San Diego") reports that the city will export Burger Lounge to West Hollywood this year with the help of a Connecticut investment group that has a stake in chains like Marie Callendar's and The Habit. The five-strong chain serves a short menu of organic, grass-fed burgers, turkey and veggie burgers, fries, onion rings, hand-scooped floats, skewered chicken tenders, and tossed salads. The business, which is currently trying to nail down a location for its first L.A. branch, looks about as eco-minded as a burger chain can get and was named "best hamburger joint" by San Diego magazine in 2009. It looks pretty promising on its website, but we'd love to hear from any readers who've tried it in our comments about its chances of competing in L.A.'s ever-increasing burger field.
