Top Chef Brian Malarkey Plans 2nd San Diego Project

Brian Malarkey (aka the Top Chef vet in the the hat who's not Spike Mendelsohn) is following up on his San Diego restaurant Seersucker with an Asian-inspired non-restaurant, to opened in July in Del Mar. Eater calls this one a "social dining experience" that has an Asian cowboy theme and goes by the name Burlap. That's all funny for several reasons. There will be a helluva lot of food here for a non-restaurant including tartare, "carpaccio, uni, oysters, yellow-tail collar, rotisserie duck, quail, prime ribs with different glazes and brines, and yuzu-steak with ginger butter." Sounds good, but what's with his obsession with fabrics? [Eater]
