Of course we miss Sona, but we're still very excited about Micah Wexler's Mezze. The Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-influenced restaurant opens this coming Monday in the former La Cienega home of David Myers' flagship restaurant. The space has been radically renovated to be more organic and rustic, with olive trees planted in the dining room, walls of Venetian plaster, colored glass doorways, Morrocan tile and Lebanese wood flooring, an open kitchen, outdoor patio, and huge central skylight that floods the dining room in natural light. The space is heavy on charm, while walls that open to the outside make it look bigger than its predecessor. So, what's going to be on the menu here?

The Dining Room at MezzeMezze

Wexler, who worked at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Craft, will cook an homage to the cuisine of the Eastern Mediterranean and The Middle East, using farmer's market ingredients to riff on the dishes of Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Israel, and Morroco in small plates and entrees. Signatures include the veal manti and yellowtail crudo we showed you back in October, along with chicken cooked in a wood-burning oven with zatar and natural jus, and Merguez flatbreads with tomato jam. A full food menu will be served until midnight each night, while selections will change along with the seasons. A wine list will focus on California and the Middle East, while hand-crafted cocktails will also swing towards the seasonal, bringing ingredients and flavors from the honored regions in contact with top-shelf spirits.

Mezze opens Monday, March 28th, at 6:00 P.M. Make reservations at 310-657-4103.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said that Chef Wexler worked as the executive chef at Voyeur. A press rep writes to inform us he was never employed there.
