Sashi Sushi + Sake Lounge took it to the streets, so to speak, on Sunday afternoon to support the Jimmy Miller Foundation and relief efforts for Japan with its first Hanami Festival. To the sounds of reggae and armed with samplings of sake and Asahi, Manhattan Beach locals and their guests (including chef Jason Travi) stuffed themselves from a wide selection of Japanese street food stations spread throughout this breezy outdoor/indoor lounge, from a grill covered in okonomiyaki to a tempura nook to a long line of nigiri and sushi rolls that included sustainable bluefin from Japan. Great first-time event and an awesome range of edibles, all for the terrific cause of getting kids from the city out to the ocean. Take a look at all the Japanese street food you missed in our slide show of Sashi's first Hamai Festival.
