Speaking of okonomiyaki, a new spot for the Japanese street food is preparing to open on Sawtelle in the space recently vacated by by Ramen Kinchans. The restaurant is called Gottsui, which is also the name of a Japanese chain specializing in a big selection of okonomiyaki, although a connection is yet to be established. Currently, the restaurant promises to specialize in teppanyaki griddle cooking, including several varieties of okonomiyaki, which can be found at West L.A.'s Raku, but not too often on this saturated street. It's a long-shot that this one will make the food crowd change allegiances from GaJa, but hopefully we'll get the opportunity to find out when Gottsui opens its doors in June.
Gottsui, 2119 Sawtelle Blvd. West Los Angeles. 310-478-0521.
