What to Eat at Stella Rossa, Now Open in Santa Monica

While Mother Dough lands on Los Feliz today, Santa Monica has a new pizza place in Stella Rossa, which just opened Friday in the former space of Goudas and Vines under Lettuce Entertain You, the company behind neighboring M Street Cafe, nee La Grande Orange. Stella's menu is a simple arrangement of pizzas, using a handcrafted dough with locally milled flour, filtered water (not from Brooklyn, we take it), sea salt, and fresh yeast that is fermented for a minimum of 18 hours to ensure crispness. Along with traditional Italian toppings (no real funny stuff here) on both red and white pies, you'll find a few antipasti, salads, and a strong selection of draft beers, plus Californian and Italian wines by the glass and just a few simple cocktails, like a sangria or a "moonshine" margarita.
