Flame Ignites a New International Restaurant Beside Nanbankan

Speaking of West L.A.’s Japanese scene, it appears that all those years of construction have finally ceased hampering the view into Nanbankan, with the fancy new facade seen above now in place. It doesn’t breathe a lot of soul, but if Nanbankan made it with such a marred visage over the extended period, surely a contemporary sign can’t hurt. Even bigger news, Westwood Persian restaurant Flame is opening up a new project called Flame International right next door (most likely the cause of all this construction in the first place). What’s to be expected?

According to the website for this elaborate new space, Flame International will be both a restaurant, nightclub, and events space specializing in global food with a strong Persian accent. So far, we don’t see much in the way of a global reach on the early menu and it’s hard to believe the website’s promise that this could become a place for “the A-List crowd at night,” but as an employee at Flame restaurant says the new project is still at least three months from debuting, we’ll just have to wait and see. Given the nightclub, restaurant, and catering plans together, we’ll say that’s an extra three months of permit approvals to wade through first.
